Charity Lacrosse announces their third trip to Costa Rica! Join us from June 9th to June 16th 2014 to help spread the great game of lacrosse! We are teaming with Student Cultural Exchange to provide a fun, educational, and life-changing experience of Surf-Serve, Lax-Learn!
Through our relationship with Student Cultural Exchange, we now offer a trip to Costa Rica to experience the Pura Vida lifestyle! On this trip, participants will have the ability to stay in the Playa Samara area where they will have the ability to take surfing lessons, experience the joy of helping others through working with CREAR, help coach local Costa Ricans as well as players for the Costa Rica National Team in San Jose, and throughout the experience, participants will learn much from these amazing people.
Playa Samara is the picturesque surfing location with a beautiful cove and people. This amazing beach provides for excellent waves to learn how to surf and experience part of the Pura Vida lifestyle of Costa Rica.
Meet the Guides
Gato is a Costa Rican native who loves to play soccer, surf, and cliff jump. As a local of Samara, Gato was a huge help with communicating to locals, helping with surfing lessons, and showing us a side of Costa Rica that few tourists get to see. Needs to work on his lax game a little bit, but overall a huge help.
Tess is a 2009 graduate of Lehigh University where she majored in Business/Accounting and played lacrosse. Tess is now finishing up her masters in Public Administration at the University of Albany and works with the Student Cultural Exchange. She was a tremendous help last year coordinating our daily activities and we’re so pumped to have her back with us.
CREAR is a non-profit after-school program which provides additional education for the youth of Playa Samara. The mission for La Asociacion CREAR is to provide a venue where children and young people can develop their talents through education initiatives, while providing them with life-long skills that will provide them with the opportunity for a wide range of employment opportunities. A major component of CREAR is to reinforce the environmental and social consciousness of the students to promote the awareness to others.
Participants must be well behaved, high school players who want to help spread the great game of lacrosse. If interested, please fill out the fields below. For more information, please contact the Charity Lacrosse President, Ian Grady, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This trip was one of the best experiences of my life.
We got to serve the community, and had so much fun doing it. We had the opportunity to meet many locals, learned how to surf, played some late night lax/soccer, ate some great food, and made many new friends."
